I would be pretty happy if Jeep would put a modern, competitive engine in their Grand Cherokee Overland. The Ford Explorer Sport's Ecoboost gets better fuel economy than the Grand Cherokee's V6 and is quicker than the Grand Cherokee's Hemi.
If Ford did a nice refresh of the Explorer and gave the Sport all the options (namely, HIDs) it would be ideal.

I just want one of these
With a Volvo T6 somehow shoehorned into it
Some Wantanabe wheels couldn't hurt, either!

Call it the 'Murica.

I'm more for the 'Murica Fuck Yeah!

Why not the T5, it is plenty powerful and sounds amazing?

More like 3rd or 4th time.

They're really aren't in the same class, since the explorer is now FWD based. Also remember the SRT8.

I'd really be happy shoving any turbo'd Volvo engine into a Se7en haha

I guess it's just personal preference, but this sound:

If I had waited a year to buy a Jeep I would've gotten a 2006 SRT8. Too impatient and bought a 2005. The SRT8s were low to mid $40s. They are now $63-$70+ No, thanks.
As far as I'm concerned they are both AWD SUVs. Is "FWD based" a bad thing for off-roading? I just need the AWD for the snow, no off-road for me.
![]() 05/14/2014 at 23:22 |

Offroading, yes. Snow, not always. It just depends on the set up. The Explorer would not make it even halfway through a trail that a Jeep would make look easy.

Gotcha. My brother's Explorer gets him anywhere I would need to go in the ice and snow, no problems there. I think the new Jeep GC is one of the best looking vehicles on the road, but can't justify getting any of those engines over the Explorer Sport's Ecoboost V6. I'll probably hold off until the next refresh and pick up the Ford. The no haggle fleet pricing also doesn't hurt.

Do you need the third seat? If not, why not just get an F150?
![]() 05/14/2014 at 23:50 |
|
3rd row, very rarely. Definitely not a necessity. I actually checked out a Tremor at a local dealer while I was looking at the Sport. They're about the same price, but only only two seats in the truck.
I don't really like the look of the F150s, and haven't been overly impressed with the last few Ford pickups my father bought.
...just built an F150 Limited on their site. Not too bad looking. $55k with options. Not sure it would even fit in the garage :)

Get out that measuring tape then! In all seriousness, I doubt it will though. My Dad's '08 Ram 1500 reg. cab, standard bed, fit in our old garage with about an inch to spare.

My Jeep fits so nicely with the lawn tractor behind it and some room to spare. The husky would probably have to be relocated

'Murica is the brand, Fuck Yeah! is the model name.

I saw someone argue the other day that trucks weren't much bigger than they used to be. The fact that my friends '92 F250 long bed is only inches longer and a few inches narrower than my Dad's Ram begs to differ.

That would actually be the second Corvette.
